We will be having our first spelling test this Friday. Please help your child practice the words. In addition to the ten regular spelling words, I also give two extra credit words. Please encourage your child to spell these words as well.
As for math, knowing the addition and subtraction facts is extremely important in second grade. Please help your child memorize the addition facts. I test these facts first.
As for the homework, I make sure that your child has the work needed for that evening. I may send homework that will be worked on later on during the week if I have covered the concepts in class.
Starting next week please sign any papers that have the stamp Please Sign and Return on them. I like to make sure that parents have seen their student's work.
I enjoyed meeting all of you at Back to School Night and I am so happy to be teaching your child this year!

Homework for Aug. 31st- Sept. 3rd
Monday:
- Write each spelling word 3 times.
- Read the math story to your parents.
- Do the vocabulary paper (page 3).
Tuesday:
- Read the Decodable Book.
- Choose 6 of the spelling words and write a sentence for each one. Remember each sentence has to be at least 8 words long.
- Study your addition facts. I passed out the facts at Back to School Night.
Wednesday:
- Read "Do You Know" in the Patterns book.
- Share the Religion paper with your parents.
- Share the excel math parent letter with your parents and finish the rest of Lesson 3.
Thursday:
- Study the spelling words and take a pretest. Write any misspelled word 5 times.
- Read Ira Sleeps Over Chant to your family.
- Study your addition facts for tomorrow's test.
