Our AR reading program is coming along nicely and the students are taking tests daily. The goal of this reading program is to increase your child's fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Research shows the more a child practices reading on a daily basis, the more fluent he/she becomes. This includes being read to by an adult, reading aloud to a parent, and reading silently. Second graders should be reading 80 words per minute at this time. Practicing reading will help your child increase this level. Thank you for your continued support!

Testing Week

Dear Parents,
As mentioned earlier, this is testing week. Please make sure your child is on time each day. Also, keep his/her regular routine and plenty of rest is recommended. There is no homework for the week.

We are currently learning about the sacraments in Religion. We will be role playing a Baptism this Friday. The girls may bring in baby dolls if they wish. Thank you parents for all your help.

We are going to the Pumpkin Patch on October 14. The tour starts at 9:00 a.m. so I would like to leave the school by 8:20. If you are interested in driving, please fill out the permission slip. I would like all permission slips in by this Friday. The cost is eight dollars for students and parent drivers. Students need to bring a sack lunch and drink.

This Monday is Part One of "Out of Harm's Way" at 7:00 p.m. in the Hall. All parents of children making their First Holy Communion need to attend.

Have a lovely week!
