Busy Week for Second Grade!

Homework for May 2nd-5th

Monday: First Communion Meeting for communicant and parent.
  1. Write each spelling word 5x.
  2. Study the vocabulary words.
  3. Read the Decodable Book.
Tuesday:
  1. Read the Decodable Book.
  2. Do the assigned math paper.
  3. Listen to the Character Matters CD.
Wednesday:
  1. Take a spelling pretest and write any misspelled word 6x.
  2. Share the Religion paper with your family.
  3. Study the vocabulary words.
Thursday: PTG Performance (Character Matters) Cinco de Mayo
  1. No homework for tonight! Please rest before the performance. I would like all my second graders to report to the second grade classroom no later than 5:40 p.m. Please be in costume and ready to perform. I will walk the class up to the Hall when it is time for us to go on. Parents, please make every effort to have your child on time. Each child's part is crucial to the success of this play. I know you will enjoy it! All the students have worked really hard and it shows!!
Reminders: Don't forget Monday's meeting starting at 6:30. The students may bring in ribbons, glitter sticks, stickers, etc. to help decorate their banners. Banners are provided.

This Friday is the May Crowning. It begins with a Mass hosted by second grade. The Mass begins at 8:15. Please make sure your child is in full uniform and on time. All parents are welcome. Also, the students may bring in flowers to present to our Blessed Mother. Thank you for your help. This is a very special time for the second graders and I am so proud of them!

One last thing, there will be no math facts quiz or Religion test this week.

Holy Week

Homework for April 18-20

Monday:
  1. Write each spelling word 4x.
  2. Study your assigned math facts.
  3. Work on the Earth Day Project.
  4. Read the Decodable Book.
Tuesday:
  1. Do the Earth Day Every Day word search.
  2. Work on the Earth Day Project.
  3. Write a story using as many spelling words as you can. Try to use dialogue and speaker tag in some of your sentences.
Spy Wednesday:
  1. Take a spelling pretest and write any misspelled word 6x.
  2. Study your math facts.
  3. Read the Decodable Book.
Earth Day Project (Due this Wednesday)
We are currently learning about Earth Day which is celebrated on April 22nd. The second graders know the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Please help your child fill his/her recycle bag with items that can be recycled and reused. We will be sharing these items on Wednesday and then making art projects with them on Thursday. In addition, if you have any arts and crafts materials around the house such as: buttons, ribbons, feathers, stickers, etc. that you wouldn't mind donating, please send them in. Thank you for your help and have a very blessed Easter.

Character Matters!

Homework for April 11-14

Monday:
  1. Write each spelling word 3x.
  2. Do the paper The King Comes To Play.
  3. Study the multiplication facts 2's, 5's, and 10's (everyone).
  4. Practice the songs from our play.

Tuesday:
  1. Share the Garbage Facts paper with your family so that we can help take better care of our world.
  2. Do the paper A Colorful Page.
  3. Do the assigned math paper.
Wednesday:
  1. Read the story The Perfect Pet two times to increase reading fluency.
  2. Do the assigned math paper.
  3. Study the Religion notes for Friday's test.
Thursday:
  1. Read the assigned social studies paper.
  2. Take a spelling pretest and write any misspelled word 5x.
  3. Study the assigned multiplication facts.
Reminders: The PTG Program costume check is Monday, April 18th. Our "Big Mouth" bunny project will be on April 19th first thing in the morning. Please make sure your child has his/her bottle of glue, two bags of cotton balls, and Easter grass. We have enough jugs for everyone. Thank you!!!

Monday:
  1. Write each of the first twenty spell-a-thon words 3x.
  2. Study your assigned math facts.
  3. Study the vocabulary words.
  4. Read the Decodable Book.
Tuesday:
  1. Read the story Jocko and Polo two times to increase your reading fluency.
  2. Do excel math homework #63.
  3. Share the social studies paper with your family.
  4. Share the My Prayer Book with your family.
Wednesday:
  1. Do the assigned reading paper.
  2. Write each of the last twenty spell-a-thon words 3x.
  3. Do excel math homework #64.
Thursday:
  1. Take a spelling pretest of all forty spell-a-thon words and write any misspelled word 3x.
  2. Study your math facts and vocabulary words.

Don't forget that track meet try-outs are April 11th from 2:30-4:30. Also, Progress Reports are available anytime through Gradelink, but if you would like one printed out, please let me know by April 13th.
